Study in Italy

Indian students interested in pursuing their Higher studies in Italy will have to follow the below mentioned mandatory steps:

1. Apply for admission on the selected Higher Education Institution website within the deadline set by the same.
Please note that each Institution has different requirements, deadlines and fees.

2. Once admitted to the selected course, apply online for Pre-Enrollment on the UNIVERSITALY portal.
Pre-Enrolment for academic year 2024/2025 is now open!

3. Once pre-enrolled, apply for a D-VISA, in case the duration of your course exceeds 90 days, OR apply for a C-VISA in case the duration of your course is less than 90 days.

With effect from 15th April 2024 and only on prior appointment, all students wishing to pursue their higher studies in Italy and residing in the states under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai (Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli) can submit their visa application at one of the two VFS centers: Mumbai (Mahalaxmi) and Cochin.
Please be informed that all students will be required to attend a mandatory video interview upon submitting their visa application.

In order to avoid any delays in the issuance of the visa, applicants are strongly recommended to submit the complete documentation required by the official study visa checklist, available here: Checklist STUDY VISA Mumbai 2024-25.

All students are hereby informed that, according to the Italian law in force, the processing time of long-term visa applications (D type) can take up to 90 days from the day they are received by this Consulate General. Please note that in case the Consulate General requires the student to submit additional documents (through the so called “advance notice for refusal”), the overall processing time is likely to exceed 90 days.

Valid passport issued within the last 10 years with a validity of at least 3 months after the entire duration of the Study Program in Italy · Passport must bear at least 2 blank pages 2 Visa application form · Application form duly filled and signed (in case of minors1 , to be signed by both parents) 3 Covering letter · Statement of purpose (max 1 page) clarifying reasons for choice of course and Italian Higher Education Institution, means of financial supports, scholarship (if applicable) and intended accommodation. 4 Proof of admission to the study program · Admission letter from the Italian Higher Education Institution

Pre-enrolment Summary

Alternatively, parents can sign a no objection declaration before the Consular Officer at the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai prior appointment. 2 The Pre-enrolment procedure applies to all Non-EU applicants living outside Italy who need a study visa type-D to enter Italy for enrollment in an Italian Higher Education Institution recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education (MUR). It needs to be carried out through the UNIVERSITALY portal at the following link: https://www.universitaly.it/index.php/ 3 Educational loan to be accepted as part of the financial means only if deposited and visible on bank statements submitted by the applicant. Else, the relevance shall be evaluated on a case to case basis. 4 If resident in India, only parents and legal guardians can act as sponsors.
